Dateline 4/19/2012: All-Star Supporter!

9-year-old Richard Clay Wilson from McKenzie, Tennessee was deeply moved when he heard a presentation on malnourished children and the work Project Peanut Butter (PPB) is doing to help. Richard saved all of his birthday and Christmas money, and had a lemonade sale to raise money to treat severely malnourished children in Sierra Leone through PPB. Through his efforts, Richard raised over $3,000 for PPB, meeting his goal of saving 100 children!

Dateline 4/6/2012: Challenges in Malawi and Mali

From the recent news reports, it is clear that both the countries of Mali and Malawi are facing political challenges. Mali faces continued turmoil after the recent coup and the backlash as the coup leaders find themselves isolated by the political parties in Mali and the international community. This political instability comes at a time when a severe food crisis and malnutrition is predicted for the late months of this year.

Thursday, April 5, 2012, Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika suffered a heart attack and has died. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the people of Malawi and the family of the late president. Joyce Banda, the Vice President of Malawi is expected to assume the presidency. She has a reputation as a compassionate and intelligent person and we believe Malawi will prosper under her leadership.

Project Peanut Butter is committed to continuing our work in these countries. We are especially determined to be ready to assist the country of Mali during the predicted famine.
Dateline 3/22/2012: Mali Update: PPB is closely following the news about a possible coup attempt on the government in Bamako, Mail. PPB Mali volunteers (Stephanie and Andrew Peace) are safe and currently in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where they have been receiving training from the PPB team there. PPB will continue to monitor the situation and make plans accordingly. Thankfully, everyone at PPB is safe and out of harm’s way. Our thoughts are with the people of Mali and we hope for peace and stability.
